Did you know? The Government of Alberta requires Home Service Contractors to have a "Pre-Paid Contractor's License" in order to accept any payments before work is started (this is different than a Municipal Business License).
Why is this important? This License requires a criminal background check, specific insurance as well as certain clauses in the contract which protect you, the consumer.
Fortunately, the Government if Alberta has made it easy to check if a contractor is licensed, by visiting the Service Alberta website at http://www.servicealberta.ca/find-if-business-is-licenced... and typing in the business name.
